Her hubby Michaels is an American retired professional wrestler. Widely regarded as one of the greatest in-ring performers of all time, he is known by the nicknames “Heartbreak Kid”,The Showstopper”, and “Mr. WrestleMania.”

Rebecca and Shawn have managed to keep their relationship sailing for more than two decades. While we know Shawn as a WWE champion, there is only limited information about his wife. So let’s find out who was she prior to being Mrs. Michaels along with some additional facts from her marital life with two-time Royal Rumble winner.

Rebecca Curcis’ early life and education

Rebecca Curci was born on 16 June 1973 in San Antonio, Texas. She holds American nationality and belongs to the Caucasian ethnicity.

Curci was raised alongside her late sister Carol Siener. Her mother was a nurse at a local hospital and her father was an English teacher at a high school.

She grew up watching a lot of TV with her mother, which is how she became interested in dancing. When she was only nine years old, her mother enrolled her in a dance school, where she trained for nine years.

She graduated from South San Antonio High School, in San Antonio, Texas. However, after graduating from high school, she focused more on her dancing profession.

    Rebecca Curci is a dancer

Passionate about dancing from a young age, Rebecca formally joined a girl group named Nitro Girls as Whisper in October 1997.

The Nitro Girls were a dance team in World Championship Wrestling. Their sole responsibility was to dance and entertain the live crowds during commercial breaks. In the group, Rebeccas’ signature move was to put a finger to her lips at the end of each routine, hence the nickname, “Whisper“.

She left WCW in 1999 to marry wrestler, Shawn Michaels. Since then she has appeared various times on WWE programs such as WrestleMania 22 and later appeared at the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2011.

Curcis’ husband Shawn fell in love with her at first sight

In his book, Heartbreak & Triumph, Shawn Michaels remembers seeing Curci on tv and thinking that she was the most beautiful, sexiest woman he had ever seen. From then on, he started watching every episode of WCW Nitro just to see her.

Michaels mentioned Rebecca to her friend and that’s how the two exchanged numbers. Yet Shawn didn’t call her for a few days even after receiving her number.

He writes in his book Wrestling for My Life:

I was reluctant to call Rebecca because I felt like a stalker. She returned my call that evening, and we talked for a couple of hours. We continued talking every night for the next two weeks. Neither of us slept much, and we would talk until four in the morning. Then we’d hop on the computer and e-mail each other back and forth. It was puppy love running amuck.

The two started texting on regular basis after that.

The couple married in Las Vegas only after a few weeks of meeting

Curci and Micahel met after texting each other for a few weeks. She took a flight from Atlanta all the way to Texas, so the two could finally meet in person. In his book “Heartbreak and Triumph”, Michael wrote:

Being the classy guy that I am, I took her to Denny’s. She loved it.

After a few days together, she went back to Atlanta. A few weeks later, the two met again while Curci was doing a photoshoot. As Shawn was driving her back to the airport, he says he realized he was in love with her and that he wanted to get married.

As seen in movies, he ran to catch up to her in the airport to tell her how he felt. Thankfully, Rebecca also revealed she loved him too but thought it was just her who felt that way.

The couple was blessed with their firstborn fairly early into their marriage

Rebecca found out she was six weeks pregnant with their firstborn after the couple’s Las Vegas wedding.

As this was the first child for both Michaels, he was both excited and nervous being a father for the first time. He wrote in Heartbreak & Triumph:

I’ve always believed there was a God, and I’ve screwed up in life, but please, Lord, don’t let anything happen to my son.

    He further added:

I didn’t get any sleep the first two weeks we had him because I would get up every half hour to make sure he was still breathing.

Michaels was battling significant drug addiction at the time Cameron was born, and he was constantly misusing opioids.

Shawn Michaels wife Rebecca took punch by Chris Jericho

Back in 2008, Shawn and Chris Jericho stood face to face inside the same ring. It was the moment when Shawn was announcing his retirement alongside his wife. However, Chris couldn’t let Shawn have all the attention and created a drama. Furious Shawn then went ahead and told Chris:

“I want you to do me a favour…I want you to go home sit your wife down, your kids down, look them in the eye and tell them that daddy will never, ever be Shawn Michaels.”

As things took a bad turn, Chris tried and threw a punch towards Shawn. However, he dodged it and the punch landed on Shawn’s wife’s face.

    So where is Rebbeca now?

After retiring from wrestling in 2010, Shawn and his wife Rebecca sold their home in San Antonio. Later the couple decided and bought a ranch.
