    Early Life of Graham Scott 

    Graham Scott was born on 10th October 1968, in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. His zodiac sign is Libra. He belongs to the English ethnicity whereas, he is of British nationality.

    Graham Scott attended the Abingdon School in Oxfordshire, England, from 1980 to 1987 before finishing his studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), a public research university in London, England, from 1987 to 1990.

    He used to be a keeper for Abingdon Town F.C. in the lower leagues. Sadly, he had to stop playing competitive football at the age of 27 due to a chronic back problem and his concern over long-term harm.

    Right after finishing college in 1997, he started working as a senior writer at BMA News Review. He worked at the company for two years before joining RCN Publishing Company Ltd in 1999. At first, he was the news editor for Nursing Standard. Then in 2008, he became the Deputy editor for the company where he worked till 2009.

    Furthermore, in 2009, he became an editor at RCNi. From 2009 to 2018, he was the editor, then in 2015 he also took the position of Editorial director. He stopped working for the company in 2019 as he currently works as a full-time referee.

    Graham Scott’s Career as a Referee

    He started his refereeing career in 1997, at a lower league level and didn’t have any ambition of reaching new heights. However, all of this changed when he received positive feedback from players so he decided to take it more seriously. 

    He quickly entered the National List of referees in 2008, overseeing crucial matches like Crawley Town’s upset victory against Bolton in the 2012–13 Football League Cup. In the year 2014, he was in charge of his first Premier League match, between Burnley and Aston Villa.

    In the year 2015, Scott’s promotion to the Select Group, made him in charge of the matches in the Premier League replacing Chris Foy.

    However, in 2016, former Premier League and Fifa referee Keith Hackett said it was a mistake to promote him. After his performance in the eight Premier League games over the 2016–17 season, the PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials Limited) were preparing to demote Scott. Later, he asked to reconsider his demotion and kept his position for the 2017–18 campaign.

    By the end of January 2018, thanks to his better performance, he was in control of several games, including 13 premier league games and an EFL League Cup semifinal. He was also praised by football journalists and enthusiasts for his improved performance.

    He was severely criticized for his performance in Aston Villa and Tottenham’s Match 

    The ex-Fifa and Premier League referee Keith Hackett said exclusively to Football Insider that Graham Scott should retire after his performance in Aston Villa’s 4-0 loss to Tottenham on 9th April 2022.

    He claimed that the 53-year-old referee did not give a yellow card to Matty Cash for a tackle on Matt Doherty which ended the season for Doherty as he suffered a knee injury because of the tackle, according to football.london on Sunday (April 10).  

    Furthermore, Keith told Football Insider that, 

    I think it’s time for this referee to retire.” 

    He also added by saying

    He’s 53 and the argument is that’s it a young man’s game. You’ve got to be athletic, you’ve got to be mobile. The dynamic of the game has changed. I think his time is gone.I’m being harsh judging on this game but he’s missed a couple of clear yellow cards. At times, he gets too detached from the play.”

    Well, this is one of those moments you get whenever you judge a big match.

    Graham Scott’s Wife: Is he married?

    The 53-year-old referee is very private about his personal life. There is not much information available at the moment regarding his marriage or whether or not he is in a relationship. However, many sources have speculated that Graham Scott is still single and is not dating anyone at the moment.
