    Stan was born as the eldest son to his father Leopold Anthony Stokowski and mother Gloria Vanderbilt. He was born on August 22, 1950, after five years of his parent’s marriage. He follows Christianity as his religion.

    Leopold Anthony Stokowski, his father, was a famous English conductor in the early or mid-twentieth century. He is most known as a Director of the Philadelphia Orchestra. In addition, he has also appeared in the Disney film Fantasia.

    On the other hand, his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, was a successful entrepreneur, a painter, a fashion model, and a successful theatre artist. She was also CEO of her own company GV Ltd.

    As for his educational journey, the eldest son of Gloria went to Riverdale Country School in the Bronx. After his high school completion, he went further to attend Middlebury College. Stan graduated from college in 1970.

    After a year in 1971, he joined the School of Visual Arts in New York. He passed out with a degree in painting in 1973.

    Sadly, his parents are no longer together. The ex-couple parted ways after 10 years of marriage in October 1955. However, the reason for their separation wasn’t disclosed by either party.

    His parents met when his mother was going through a divorce with Pat DiCicco. A few weeks into the divorce, his parents decided to tie the knot. They exchanged vows in April 1945 despite an age gap of almost 42 years. His mother was 21 and his father was 63 at the time of their wedding.

    Prior to marrying Emily, Leopold Stanislaus Stokowski was previously married to famous author Ivy Strick, the daughter of Rachelle Strick and Louis Strick. The couple tied the knot at the couple’s farm in Saugerties, on June 18, 1981.

    One of Stan’s half-siblings from his mothers’ side committed suicide at a young age. Carter Vanderbilt Cooper, eldest son of Stan’s mom Gloria and his stepfather Wyatt Emory Cooper committed suicide on July 22, 1988. In fact, he jumped off from the terrace wall of his mother Gloria Vanderbilt’s 14th floor Manhattan apartment. At the time of death, Carter was just 23.

    In an interview with People, his brother Anderson Cooper said:

    It’s inconceivable to me that my brother died in 1988 and I’ve lived more of my life without him than I have with him. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about what he would be doing, who he would be, and I still think about his death and have questions about it.

    Moreover, his late mom Gloria was also dumbfounded on what had happened and used to cry for weeks & months.
